Breakfast is the meal the Gulf Coast is quietly best at. Every beach town on this corridor has a diner that has been feeding fishermen since before the condos, and the good ones are cheap, unpretentious, and open early enough to eat before the beach rather than after.
This runs west to east, Dauphin Island to Panama City Beach, organized by where you are staying rather than ranked against each other. A diner in Gulf Shores is not competing with one on 30A — you are eating at whichever is near your condo.
The Alabama End: Gulf Shores and Orange Beach
This stretch has the strongest concentration of proper local diners on the corridor.
Kitty's Kafe is the local pick — Southern homestyle plates, eggs and grits and biscuits, omelets, eggs Benedict, corned beef hash. Consistent, reasonably priced, and full of people who live here. If you want one breakfast in Gulf Shores, make it this.
Sunliner Diner is the fifties-throwback option — bigger on theme than Kitty's, and a reliable hit with kids who are bored of the condo kitchen.
Ruby Slipper brings the New Orleans brunch approach, which on this coast means Benedicts and something boozy if you are in that mood.
Tacky Jack's in Orange Beach is the water-view play. The food is solid rather than exceptional; the morning view over the water is the reason to go, and it is a genuinely good one.
Lickin' Good Donuts opens at 5 a.m., which matters more than it sounds when you are driving to a charter or catching the Mobile Bay Ferry.
Pensacola Beach and Navarre
The island's restaurant list is short, and breakfast is where that shows most. The reliable move is Harbor-style casual on the island for convenience, or crossing the Bob Sikes Bridge into Gulf Breeze and Pensacola proper, where the options open up considerably.

Fort Walton Beach and Destin
Harbor Docks in Destin is the standout, and an odd one: a serious seafood restaurant that also runs a breakfast worth getting up for, on the harbor. Locals eat there year-round.

30A
The best breakfast on the corridor, and it is not especially close. 30A took the brunch thing seriously and it shows.
Great Southern Cafe in Seaside is the one to plan around — Southern dishes with a twist, fried green tomato Benedict, corned beef hash Benedict, chicken and waffles. Breakfast runs daily from 8 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., so it is genuinely a breakfast service rather than an all-day menu. Get there early.
Bud & Alley's, also in Seaside, was one of 30A's first farm-to-table places and still cooks like it.
Black Bear Bread Company has several 30A locations and is the coffee-and- pastry answer — avocado toast, breakfast sandwiches, locally roasted coffee. The most reliable quick option on the road.
Gypsea Crepes is the one that wins with kids, sweet or savory.

Restaurant lists rot. Places close, change hands, and cut hours between seasons, and a roundup written in one year is partly wrong by the next. Treat this as a starting point and check before you drive — especially outside summer, and especially on the Alabama end where winter hours get thin.
The Bottom Line
Eat breakfast out on this coast — it is the best-value meal of the day here and the one where the local places still beat the resorts. Go before 8:30, check hours first, and if you are anywhere near 30A, build one morning around Great Southern Cafe.
